Radius Systems asked us to create an animated 3D visualisation to demonstrate their concept for the insertion of fibre optic cabling into no-man entry sewer systems. Based on proven technologies, but still in the concept stage, we were required to model all elements based on rough working sketches and imagine how the final equipment might look and operate.
To demonstrate the process, we modelled a typical street scene with a sewer system hidden beneath, this allowed us to peel back the layers of the street to reveal the manhole elements and entrance to the sewer network. A small caddy device is inserted into the sewer to pull micro-duct through, gluing it to the base of the sewer pipe as it travels, the fibre optic cabling is then fed through this ducting.
